Duvarita Vineyard resides in remarkably sandy soils on a hillside just a few hundred feet outside the western edge of the Santa Rita Hills AVA. This incredibly challenging site yields some absolutely beautiful Pinot Noir. The sandy soils promote a wonderfully lifted aromatic presence while the cooling influence from the proximity to the Pacific maintains freshness and ensures a long slow maturation allowing for an incredible tactile presence. Four separate one-half acre blocks are harvested and co-fermented in small open top tanks with roughly 25% whole cluster utilizing only native yeast. These lots are then basket pressed and aged on lees in 300L French Oak barrels for 19 months prior to bottling unfined and unfiltered. The wine then rests in bottle for an additional 12 months prior to release. Duvarita Vineyard consistently delivers a classic expression of Pinot Noir combining vibrant fruit with an undercurrent of petrichor and spice. While this wine will age gracefully for a decade or more, it is undeniably beautiful in its youth.
