The spectacular Bien Nacido Vineyard once again validates its reputation as one of California’s premier vineyards for the 2017 vintage. The wine is made exclusively from clonal selection 115 from block 47 located in the thinner higher elevation hillside soils of the property. As we have done in past vintages, we opted to take about 25% of the fruit and ferment it on its own as 100% whole cluster. The balance of the fruit was fermented 100% destemmed. These lots were aged separately in 300L barrels for 19 months then blended prior to bottling to incorporate each lots unique contributions. The resulting wine is wonderfully layered and complex aromatically with a fantastic flavor profile. Structurally the wine is absolutely incredible with superb richness across the palate with subtle tannins and balanced acidity long into the finish. This wine is gorgeous now and will no doubt age beautifully for years to come.
