Torrin Wine

Our wines are made from the Westside of Paso Robles.  The grapes are from our hardworking hands and soil as well as our friends and neighbors. We don’t make wines the right way or the wrong way. We simply make them our way. Intense fruit and ripe tannins are our friends and we have nothing but respect for those donning purple teeth.

We sell our wines via Allocation and Mailing List.  We are currently not open to the public for tasting as our wines currently sell out on release to our lists.  However, we do have plans to make a bit more wine and hope to open our doors for tastings some time next year.

Our next release will begin in September 2017 featuring the second half of our 2014 Vintage.  If you are interested in purchasing some of our wines please Join our Mailing List and feel free to email us at info@torrinwine.com as well.  The wines listed below are from our Spring Release featuring the first half of the 2014 Vintage.

With each Vintage we make a bit more wine so if you have yet to try our wines we hope to introduce you to them soon! We thank you for your patience and interest in our wines and look forward to sharing our wines with you!

2014 Tsundere $75.

207 cases produced. 2017 Fall Release.

JebDunnuck regional report. 95 Points.

The 2014 Tsundere is an interesting blend of 51% Syrah, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 18% Tannat that spent 18 months in 228- and 300-liter barrels before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. I remember tasting the first vintage of this cuvée, which has always been a bruiser, but in 2014 it shows another level of polish and finesse, with lots of black and blue fruits, crushed violets, earth and hints of leafy herbs aromas and flavors. Deep, rich, and concentrated, with building tannin, this full-bodied powerhouse is going to have a long life.

Winemakers Comments: Less than traditional estate blend. Lush savory notes from Syrah, herbal undertones and deep fruit from Cab., red fruit and tannin structure from Tannat.  Amazing balance and depth to ejoy with a decant young or with up to a decade or more in the cellar.

2014 Akasha Sold Out.

Fall 2017 Release

JebDunnuck Regional Report.  99 POINTS

Always 100% Syrah, the 2014 Akasha comes primarily from the Torrin Vineyard and was aged, on lees, in 60% new French oak for 18 months. Blackberries, graphite, scorched earth, pepper and loads of crushed rocks nuances make for a sensational Syrah that’s going to flirt with perfection with a few years of bottle age. While I've always loved this wine from Scott, the purity of tannin and balance in this vintage is at another level. Hats off to Scott for this insanely good Syrah.

Vicinage Series-James Berry Vineyard-Sold Out

103 cases produced. 2017 Fall Release.

JebDunnuck regional report. 97 Points.

The 2014 James Berry Vineyard (61% Grenache and 39% Syrah completely destemmed and aged 18 months in 300- and 400-liter barrels) comes from unquestionably one of the great sites of California. It offers a sensational bouquet of cassis, crushed violets, licorice, toasted bread and spice. With full-bodied richness, thrilling purity, and a finish that won't quit, it plays in the more forward, supple style of the vintage - with plenty of heady richness - yet still shines for its purity and elegance. It's hard to resist today, but will keep for a decade.

SPRING 2017 RELEASE.

113 CASES. 100% SYRAH. ($75)

We are excited to introduce a new addition to our Vicinage Series of wines.  Near the base of York Mountain in the Willow Creek District AVA is probably the coolest pocket in all of the West Side of Paso Robles and home to Kruse Vineyard.  I've spent many an evening with glass in hand on my soap box preaching of the potential of Syrah in cool pockets of otherwise warm regions. It is a perfect environment to exploit all of the fantastic varietal characteristics Syrah from cooler areas have to offer, while maintaining the texture and palate richness that we have come to love from warmer areas. Doug and Sabrina Kruse have established one of the most meticulously farmed vineyards in one of the area's most unique microclimates and it's an honor to work with the fruit. We encourage you to enjoy our expression of Syrah from this amazing site over the next 7 to 10 years.
